What fallback?

When times are tough (or we decide to do some painting and end up spending 3 times as much as I hoped) and we need some quick cash my wife falls back onto eBay.
She will go into a cupboard and sell of some baby clothes (this has been the latest one), or we take $20-$40 in dollar bills, go to yard sales and buy things to resell on eBay.

Everytime we turn on the news we keep seeing people talking about gas prices and food going up, I know I can’t do much about the price of gas or food, I can do something about my income.
Ebay is a good way to earn some quick cash, it can be a major money earner in fact but that is something that takes more work and a little research.

More on that later…

My wife loves shopping online, we have a young baby and we have just moved into a house that needs some work so there is always something to do. She doesn’t want to spend time going from one shop to another looking for things like the huge play pen we just got.
So she shops online, ebay, amazon, wal-mart etc are her stomping grounds usually. Now when you go to Wal Marts site you can either have the item delivered to the store or pay for shipping and get it delivered to your home.
Normally she will get it shipped to the store and then drive the 5 miles to the store and pick the item up.

Now gas is $4+ a gallon here she is starting to look at the delivery charge as not so bad. By the time you factor in the cost of the gas (especially since it is so hot here now that she has the air con running which seems to suck up the juice) and the time factor then the $9 or even $15 doesn’t seem so bad for delivery after all.

My wife is not out of the ordinary I am sure, she is a very normal web surfer, so if she is thinking like this how many others are.
This isn’t just a Wal mart thing:-
Books- if you know what books you want why drive across town to Barnes and Noble when you can go to Amazon and get free shipping if you order enough. Instead of spending $5 worth of gas, buy another book.

While you will probably always have to drive to the store for food, just about anything else could work out cheaper for people to get shipped direct to their house.

The expression is When you have lemons make lemonade, well it applies as much as it does offline.

I am back, I am back..

I have been moving a lot of my sites recently, getting rid of some of my hosting accounts and generally cleaning stuff up.
I have had as many as 6 accounts with hostgator at once and I am gradually closing all but my reseller account. the thing is I canceled some subscription payments and in amongst them was one I wanted to keep ..

That is why this site has been down for more than a little while..

I am back!

I think I will be moving this site as well , so then I only have two payments going out..well for now..lol

Ok I will be back soon with some real info, lots of catching up to do..

It isn’t very often I feel I just have to open up a notepad page and just type you all
a message.
Today is one of those days, I get a fair amount of email every week and I also get a
number of PM’s across the forums I am on, some people are looking for help with one of
my products others are looking for a starting point but most want to know why they are not
making the gazillions that they thought they would.

I have tried to help people whenever and however I can and I do really appreciate the fact that
people are willing to part with their hard earned cash for one of my products. Today I got a email from a friend of mine asking how my new house is doing (we just had a flood in our basement) and he mentioned that someone had canceled the membership to his latest service “because we didn’t realize we would need to do any work”.
I have had something very similar in the last week “we are looking for something that takes no work”.

I am sure you have guessed what one of the two letter words is by now,

Work

The other one is

Fear

A certain percentage of people seem to think that those of us who are successful online (and offline) have been lucky, had it all given to us, or that people come and hunt us down and give us money. The truth is that everyone who has had success has worked for it, they may choose to work less now than they did when they were starting out (and it is nice to be able to choose) but at some point they have had to work hard for their money.

When people ask for a refund based on the fact that they have to actually do some work I tend to think that is a excuse as surely everyone knows they are going to have to do something?

I wonder if they have a fear of the work. Maybe they are frightened that they won’t do it properly so if they don’t do it at all then they can’t do it wrong.
Another fear that has been mentioned to me is a underlying fear of success, I know it sounds crazy but many of us (myself included) feel that we are not really worthy to be up there with all the real money makers/gurus/successful people.

I hate to sound like a hippy but maybe this is the time that we should all be taking some time to look at ourselves, what do we want and what are we willing to do to get it. Buying the latest ebook or bit of software (even mine) and then doing nothing with it is not “working”.
If you are not willing to put in some work, reading the manual and watching the instruction videos then using the tool for the purpose it was designed then don’t buy it.
If you are not willing to put in some work then you should stop moaning that you don’t earn anything, that others are earning more, that everyone else has been lucky and finally you must stop saying you “work online” or that you are an “Internet marketer”.
If you are not willing to do the work (and this includes learning and then acting on what you have learnt) then you may as well give it all up now and just go back to surfing around you tube.

Look into yourself and if Fear is holding you back, whether it be fear of feeling stupid when you don’t understand something (like I do when people start talking programming with me), a underlying fear of success, fear of being different and following a different path than the ones the “Gurus” try to sell you on then you must start to face it and get help (I am not talking about a psychiatrist)

Find a partner online or offline who you can be honest with and share the fears and the success, A forum can be a harder place as there is always someone who thrives on being nothing but negative, I use skype to talk with my partner. It is a great way to get a boost when you are feeling down, as well as have someone who isn’t to scared to be real with you and pull you up when you get out of your pram (as we say in the UK).

I am reasonably successful online and while I am reasonably clever I am no Albert Einstein (more like beer stein), I have met one or two of the “gurus” and they sure don’t come across as rocket scientists (and I have met a real life rocket scientist). I know people who are Mensa members who have trouble constructing a coherent letter and I know self made millionaires who never finished school.

Any one of us can make it online, but it takes work and an ability to face your fear.

So is fear holding you back, or something else?
